Once again, some of my family came into town for a visit. You may remember that this summer back in August and September, my sister Jessica flew in from Oregon, my sister Rebecca flew in from Virginia and my parents visited from Virginia as well-all to spend time with Sam and our family. Each and every time they come, we have such a great time. After Sam’s seizures in October, my mom flew back out to spend some time with us, along with my middle sister Jessie. And this time she brought my two nephews-Alex and Owen. This was such a treat since we had never met Owen before! Owen was born in late May and I was scheduled to fly out to Oregon to meet him just as Sam was diagnosed & having brain surgery and so I had to cancel my trip. We all loved taking turns holding and playing with the new baby, but there was one person in particular who REALLY loved playing with baby Owen….
Sam! Any chance he could get, he wanted to hold Owen, feed Owen, lay on the floor and play with Owen. It was an Owen obsession! Look! The two of them even have the same expression here! HA!

Sam loved feeding Owen his bottles. And Owen doesn’t take a bottle from just anyone!

Sam enjoyed playing with his other cousin, Alex, too. Here Sam is showing him a toy website on the Internet. I think they were already contemplating their Christmas lists!

And Alex had fun “playing” with Champ!
We went to the pumpkin patch…

Carved LOTS of pumpkins…big and small….
Baked cookies…(that took FOREVER! Go Grammie, Go!)
Went to a Halloween party…(Jess, you look so motherly feeding Owen in your punk rock costume!)
Went for walks…(look at this CREW!)

and went out to eat among other things…(Grammie, Alex & Aunt Jessie)

It was a wonderful visit and just like last time, I hated to see them go. It’s a bummer they live so far, but we keep in touch with daily phone calls and Skype, a free software application that allows users to make video calls over the Internet. Technology is wonderful! This visit was a great morale booster for all of us, but especially Sam. We can’t wait to see them again!
Until next time,
Erica![]()

It was SUCH a great time! I was glad I could help and be a distraction for awhile. I will cherish these memories and photos for years to come.
It is awesome getting to Sam take care of someone else. I bet he likes the change for a little bit =) However, I know I love it when someone takes care of me – hee hee. I’m sure that is how you felt Erica with mom around for a little while. So glad you had such a nice visit!
What a wonderful time you all had together! Sam looked so happy! Nice to see Jessica and her handsome boys! Grammie looks to young to be a Grammie! What a wonderful family!
